Card Management – Card Alerts

Pearl Hawaii uses intelligent, data-driven fraud detection software to protect our members from high-risk card transactions. CARD ALERTS provides an extra layer of security by alerting you via SMS Text each time your card is used.

Card Alerts are different from Fraud Alerts. Fraud Alerts will only alert you if a high-risk transaction is detected. Card Alerts will alert you each time your card is used. Our fraud monitoring software stops over 90% of the fraudulent transactions that are attempted on our card portfolios. Card Alerts will help to protect you against the 10% of fraudulent transactions that may go undetected.

Stay in Control with Card Management – your card, your rules. With Card Management, you decide how and when your card can be used:

  • Block ATM Access – Don’t use ATMs? Turn off ATM transactions for added peace of mind.
  • Restrict International Transactions – Not traveling abroad? Easily block overseas transactions to protect your account.
  • Instant Fraud Response – See a charge you don’t recognize? You can immediately block your card to stop further activity.
  • Extra Layer of Protection – Card Management works alongside our powerful fraud alerts to give you even more security.

Take charge and feel confident knowing your card activity is always in your hands.

Please follow the steps below to set up your Card Alerts

     1. Enable SMS Text

    • From the Upgrade You Tab, click on Settings > Contact > Phone Number.
    • Click on the pencil icon next to the phone number you want to receive SMS Text messages.
    • Check the box that states, ‘I would like to receive SMS Text Messages to this number’.
    • Click the ‘Send a code via text’ button. The phone number selected will receive a text message with a six-digit code to confirm your identity.
    • Upon successfully verifying your identity, a second five-digit alpha-numeric code will be sent to enable text alerts.
    • Click Save Changes.  Your phone number will show ‘Confirmed’ to receive text messages.

     2. Set up Card Alert

    • Go to the Manage Accounts Tab > Card Management > and select the applicable debit or credit card.
    • Click on Alerts and Controls.
    • If you see an ‘Update Registration’ section on the page, this means another contact method has already been registered. Click the ‘Unregister’ link to remove it.

    • Click on Manage Card Alerts > choose the type of Alert you prefer. We recommend ‘Alerts for all transactions’.

    • From the Alert Delivery Method page, check the SMS Text box > select the SMS Text phone number you added in Step 1 > click Save.

    • Your card is now set up to receive SMS Text alerts.

     3. Block Cards

    • If you don’t recognize a Card Alert transaction, you can temporarily block your card to prevent future fraud from occurring.
    • Go to Mange Accounts > Card Management > toggle on the ‘Block this card’ button.

    • You will be asked if you ‘Are sure you want to block this card?’ > click ‘Block this card’.
    • Your debit or credit card is now temporarily blocked and no future transactions will post to it.

    • To UnBlock your card, toggle off the ‘Block this card’ button.
    • You can also use the ‘Block this card’ feature if your card is misplaced. As soon as you find your card, you can unblock it.
