Collections Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain and routinely update PHFCU Collections department standards, policies and procedures in alignment and compliance with current Federal and State Collection laws and practices.
  • Monitor, process, and track loan delinquencies, repossessions, foreclosures, bankruptcies, TDR’s, workouts, charge-offs, and post charge-off accounts to ensure compliance with PHFCU Collections Department standards and credit union goals.
  • Responsible in ensuring that all collections efforts are compliant and exhausted for pre charge-off and post charge-off accounts according to applicable Federal and State law.
  • Manages E-Oscar to ensure all credit reporting agencies are notified and updated due to any applicable changes in a member’s credit reporting account status.
  • Works with third parties, including the credit union’s attorneys, Credit Reporting Agencies and Recovery Agencies, on accounts which require legal proceedings, judgements, recoveries and foreclosures.
  • Review and evaluate delinquent accounts to identify possible trends and provides recommendations for changes as necessary.
  • Prepare and submit data and reports to the Board and appropriate departments as instructed by the Vice President of Loans.
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of the work within the Collections department
  • Must possess a strong understanding of Bankruptcy laws. Will serve as the primary contact for all Bankruptcy related accounts.
  • Provides leadership to the collections team to ensure all necessary functions of the department are met and to ensure staff complies with all regulations and requirements.
  • Routinely consults with the Vice President of Lending on measures to provide greater efficiency, accuracy and benefit to the Collections Department.

OTHER DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts every aspect of this position, involving interpersonal relations, in line with the concept that all personnel, staff, shareholders and visitors are afforded full and equal treatment in all matters without regard to race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, lawful political affiliation, physical handicap or marital status.
  • Periodically serves on various credit union committees (i.e. Safety, Social Events, etc.)
  • Performs such other duties and responsibilities as may be prescribed by the VP Loans or President/CEO.

  • Requires data entry/key punching and mouse skills to complete daily work.
  • Ability to view and correctly interpret numbers, text and images on a computer screen.
  • Requires the use of various office equipment to perform duties.
  • Requires verifying documents for accuracy.
  • Requires working beyond the 8-hour day periodically.
  • Requires lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 Skills/Knowledge

  • Ability to learn and apply learned skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate with all types of people.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard.
  • Ability to type 40 WPM.
  • Ability to operate a 10 key calculator.
  • Knowledge of basic math skills.
  • Ability to work and collaborate cooperatively with members, co-workers and management.
  • Must be bondable.

Education/Training

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university preferred.

Experience

  • A total of five (5) or more years of experience working in the field of consumer credit and/or collections in a financial institution, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory or managerial experience desirable.
  • Commercial and Mortgage Lending experience desirable.

Training

  • Must be willing to attend/participate in any training necessary to learn/update skills or knowledge required for the position.
